What is NHS Continuing Healthcare?
NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) is a funding package provided by the NHS which pays for the cost of care in a number of environments, including (but not limited to) Care Homes, Nursing Homes and Care at home. NHS CHC funding as it is also referred to, is for adults over the age of 18 who have complex and ongoing health needs. The eligibility criteria for NHS CHC funding can be long winded, strict and complex, making it difficult for individuals to even start the process and in many cases, even more difficult to end in a successful funding outcome without the right support from the start.
NHS CHC funding is not means tested, therefore if a person is suffering with a primary health need and meets the NHS criteria for funding, all costs of care will be paid, protecting savings, income and property. If you have been paying for care fees already and are found to be eligible for funding, you might be able to recover costs that have already been paid.
